Upton and dated 1921. The hound is beautifully observed against a dark, moody backdrop, with a small stable window, hanging tack, scattered straw and timber details creating the unmistakable character of traditional English sporting art. Its unusually tall, narrow composition and richly aged surface give the piece tremendous decorative presence and an authentic country-house quality.

CONDITION
Antique condition with visible age and wear throughout, including surface scratches, abrasions, areas of paint loss and flaking, and wear around the edges. Its slender vertical proportions make it particularly striking displayed between architectural elements or layered among antique hunting and equestrian works. Pair with dark polished woods, aged brass, leather-bound sporting books, antique silver and collected equestrian objects.

https://martingaleeast.com/products/antique-original-english-oil-painting-of-a-hound-in-a-stable-c-1921-signed-k-upton
