A striking antique bronze Scottish Terrier bookend, attributed to Pompeian Bronze Company and dating to approximately the 1920s. The wonderfully modeled Scottie stands alert with upright ears and raised tail, with deeply sculpted fur detailing that gives the piece remarkable character and dimension. Exceptionally substantial and heavy in hand, this is as much a small bronze sculpture as it is a functional bookend. Decades of age have produced a gorgeous, complex patina ranging from warm antiqued bronze to darker oxidized tones across the stepped base.

CONDITION
Beautiful antique condition with authentic age-related patina, oxidation, surface wear and finish variation throughout. The aged surface is part of the character and appeal of the piece and has intentionally not been polished or restored.

STYLING SUGGESTIONS
A fantastic addition to a library, study, office or collected bookshelf. Style it beside leather-bound books, vintage sporting prints and equestrian or hunting objects for a layered Ralph Lauren-inspired look. Its sculptural quality also makes it particularly good displayed independently on a console, desk or cocktail table where the beautifully aged bronze surface can be appreciated from every angle.
