A striking antique Austrian roe deer trophy mount featuring naturally weathered antlers and the original skull cap secured to a shaped wooden shield plaque. Measuring an impressive 15" long, this piece has wonderful vertical presence and a distinctly European sporting character.

These traditional roe deer mounts were a fixture of Austrian and Central European hunting culture, displayed in country houses, hunting lodges and alpine interiors as records of the hunt. The warm aged wood, beautifully textured antlers and timeworn bone give this example exactly the kind of authentic patina that cannot be reproduced.
