A wonderful English sporting china set from Copeland Spode’s Herring’s Hunt series, comprised of four teacups and four saucers, each decorated with individually titled fox hunting scenes after the work of J. F. Herring. Rich with country-house character, the set features riders in scarlet coats, rolling pastoral landscapes, and lively hunt imagery, all framed by a striking rose-pink rim.
Each piece is factory marked COPLAND SPODE ENGLAND and additionally hand-marked in red on the underside. The cups include scenes titled Leaping the Brook, Taking the Lead, The Death, and The First Over, while the saucers carry complementary hunt scenes including The Find, Well Cleared, and First Over. Altogether, it is a beautifully evocative set for the sporting table, breakfast room, or well-appointed country house cabinet.
