A handsome pair of vintage barley twist candlesticks pairing rich, dark-stained wood with decorative silver-tone metal candle cups. Each candlestick features a substantial circular wood base, beautifully turned barley twist stem, and embossed metal top with a stylized foliate motif. The contrast between warm wood grain and softly aged silver-tone metal gives the pair the layered, collected character we love for traditional interiors.
Scaled at 8.5" high, they are substantial enough to hold their own on a mantel or dining table without overwhelming a vignette. Especially good for adding height and architectural interest to a bookcase, console, sideboard, or hunt-inspired tablescape.
CONDITION
Vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, variation to the wood finish, and patina to the metal consistent with age and use. Wood retains beautiful character and visible grain.
SIZE
Each measures approximately 8.5"H.
PROVENANCE
Vintage. Exact maker and country of origin are unconfirmed. The form is consistent with early-20th-century English and English-inspired Jacobean Revival barley twist candlesticks.
MATERIAL
Turned wood with silver-tone / silver-plated metal candle cups.
STYLING SUGGESTIONS
Style as a pair on either end of a mantel, tuck them among antique books and sporting art on a library console, or use them with ivory tapers on a beautifully layered dining table. Their dark wood and silver-tone detailing work especially well with equestrian art, tartan, leather, blue-and-white porcelain, antique pewter, and other collected English-country pieces.
