A distinguished antique English biscuit barrel dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian period, crafted in richly grained oak and finished with handsome silver-plated fittings. Its classic barrel-form body is accompanied by a gracefully arched swing handle, fitted lid with ball finial, and a traditional shield-form cartouche at the front.

The white ironstone liner remains inside, an especially desirable feature that allows the piece to remain both decorative and useful. Originally intended for serving biscuits at the English tea table, today it makes an exceptional addition to a well-appointed bar, library, or entertaining space—equally suited for cocktail napkins, bar accessories, wrapped treats, or simply displayed as a sculptural English country antique.

The warmth of the oak against the cool silver-toned fittings gives this piece the layered, collected character associated with traditional English interiors.

CONDITION
Beautiful antique condition with the expected patina, surface variation, and gentle wear acquired through age and use. The oak barrel has a visible age separation as photographed. yet remains an undeniably handsome and substantial display piece. The interior ironstone liner is in pristine condition and allows the separation to be far less consequential in use.

SIZE
Approximately 6"W x 8"H to the top of the raised handle.

PROVENANCE
England, late Victorian to Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910.

MATERIAL
English oak, silver-plated metal, and ironstone.

WHY WE LOVE THIS
There is something wonderfully clubby and quintessentially English about an antique oak biscuit barrel. The beautifully aged timber, traditional shield cartouche, and original ironstone interior give this one remarkable presence for its compact size. Styled on a bar or tucked among leather-bound books and collected silver, it adds an immediate sense of heritage and old-world character.
