A wonderfully decorative antique bouillotte-style lamp inspired by traditional French Empire and Directoire forms. Crafted of painted metal, the lamp features a deep forest green finish with beautifully aged gilt striping, a warm golden interior, pierced gallery base, brass-tone center standard, and twin cream candle-form lights. Originally wired for electricity, the lamp retains wiring holes at the underside but has since been converted for cordless decorative use. It is now fitted with battery-operated wax warm-glow LED candelabra bulbs, allowing it to be displayed virtually anywhere without the distraction of a cord. The warm light reflects beautifully against the interior of the shade.
CONDITION
Beautiful antique condition with age-related character throughout. The painted green surface shows craquelure, very mild scattered paint loss, rubbing, and wear to the gilt decoration consistent with age. The lamp was originally wired and retains wiring openings at the underside; the original electrical wiring is no longer present, but the lamp could be rewired to be electric, if desired. It is currently fitted with high-quality battery-operated wax LED candesticks that emit a soft, warm, undulating and lifelike glow.

WHY WE LOVE THIS
The scale is what makes this one especially good. At 12.5 inches high, it has all the drama of a traditional French bouillotte lamp without requiring a large surface. The deep green, aged gilt, pierced gallery base, and warm glow give it exactly the layered old-world look we love, while the cordless conversion makes it unusually easy to style on a bookshelf, bar, writing desk, drinks table, or anywhere an electrical cord would be inconvenient.
