A striking antique ironstone ginger jar, hand painted in classic cobalt blue and creamy white with a bold Double Happiness motif at the center. The large-scale character is surrounded by loose botanical decoration and graphic border work, giving the piece the collected, slightly imperfect character that makes early hand-painted blue and white so appealing. Substantial in both size and presence, this is an especially good decorative piece for a console, library, dining room, or layered into a traditional blue-and-white collection. Beautiful filled with seasonal branches or left empty as a sculptural accent.

CONDITION
Beautiful antique condition with age-appropriate surface wear, glaze variation, firing irregularities, and areas of discoloration consistent with an older hand-painted ironstone piece. These characteristics contribute to its authentic collected appearance.

SIZE
Approximately 8.5"W x 9"H.

PROVENANCE
Antique estate-sourced piece. The prominent Double Happiness motif is a centuries-old Chinese decorative symbol traditionally associated with joy, marriage, prosperity, and good fortune.

MATERIAL
Hand-painted glazed ironstone.

STYLING SUGGESTIONS
A quintessential layering piece for a Ralph Lauren-inspired interior. Style it with preserved hydrangeas, autumn oak branches, or deep burgundy foliage for fall; place it on a mahogany console alongside antique brass, framed equestrian art, and collected books; or allow it to stand alone among other blue-and-white ceramics. Its generous scale makes it substantial enough to anchor a vignette rather than disappear into one.
