Antique Silver Double Preserve Server with Glass Inserts
Antique Silver Double Preserve Server with Glass Inserts
Couldn't load pickup availability
An exceptionally decorative antique double preserve or condiment server featuring two removable frosted-glass inserts beneath beautifully embossed hinged lids. The silver-toned frame is richly ornamented with scrolling florals, latticework, shaped borders, and architectural feet, while the tall central handle allows the complete piece to be carried easily to the table.
Double preserve servers were traditionally used to present two accompaniments together—such as jams, marmalades, chutneys, relishes, butter, or condiments. Complete examples retaining both original glass liners are particularly desirable, as the inserts were practical for serving while protecting the metal body from acidic or staining foods. Comparable pieces are variously described as double preserve dishes, butter servers, relish dishes, and condiment caddies.
This example is especially striking for its unusual double-hinged construction and beautifully detailed surface decoration. At seven inches long, it has enough presence to anchor a formal brunch or holiday table while remaining wonderfully versatile for serving preserves, condiments, butter, or small sweets.

WHY WE LOVE THIS
It is difficult to find a complete double server with both glass inserts still present, and the combination of elaborate silverwork, hinged lids, and petite scale makes this one particularly special. It is equal parts beautiful and useful—the kind of antique serving piece that immediately elevates a brunch table, bar, or holiday gathering.
