Vintage 1960s Burwood Jockey Equestrian Towel Ring Wall Sculpture
Couldn't load pickup availability
A wonderfully distinctive vintage equestrian wall piece by Burwood Products Co., featuring a dimensional jockey in traditional racing silks holding an integrated metal ring. Made in the USA, the molded figure was designed to emulate hand-carved wood and has remarkable sculptural detail throughout the face, uniform, boots and stance. The original ring allows the piece to function as a towel holder, while its strong sporting character makes it equally compelling displayed simply as equestrian wall art.
CONDITION
Good vintage condition with authentic age-related character throughout. There is visible surface wear, patina and areas of paint loss, particularly to the jockey’s red racing silks and base. The aged finish gives the piece wonderful depth and a collected sporting-house quality rather than detracting from its presentation.
SIZE
Approximately 18"L x 7"W x 2"D.
PROVENANCE
Vintage American, circa 1960s.
MAKER
Burwood Products Co., USA. Stamped No. 2124.
MATERIAL
Molded composite with painted finish and metal ring.
STYLING SUGGESTIONS
Mount in a powder room, mudroom, tack room or dressing area with a beautifully embroidered hand towel, or display without a towel as sculptural sporting art. Particularly striking among antique racing prints, leather accessories, brass accents and vintage horse-show memorabilia for a layered English sporting or Ralph Lauren-inspired interior.
