Striking vintage Neoclassical pedestal jardinière with an elegant oval urn form, deeply fluted body, ornate openwork handles, and raised classical detailing throughout the pedestal base. The combination of polished brass and richly modeled cast-metal elements gives the piece a substantial, old-world decorative presence.
Beautiful styled as a small cachepot, centerpiece bowl, console accent, fruit bowl, or filled with seasonal greenery. Its compact scale makes it especially good for layering into a bookshelf, bar, dining table, or collected English-country interior.
The bowl itself appears to be brass, while the handles and pedestal components are brass-finished cast metal.
CONDITION
Beautiful vintage condition with expected age-related surface wear, scratches, finish variation, tarnish, discoloration, and oxidation within recessed areas. Darker discoloration is present beneath the bowl where it meets the pedestal. The underside retains its typical unfinished cast texture.
SIZE
Approximately 8" L including handles × 4" W × 4" H - particularly heavy for its size.
Bowl measures approximately 6" L excluding handles.
MATERIAL
Brass and brass-finished cast metal.
ERA
Circa 1950s–1970s.
STYLING SUGGESTIONS
Fill with a small fern, ivy, boxwood, or clipped herbs and place on an antique console or library table. Equally handsome left empty among leather-bound books, silver, and equestrian objects, or used as a diminutive centerpiece filled with pears, figs, or seasonal greenery.
