Vintage Fitz & Floyd Equestrian Show Jumper Bookend

A spectacular vintage Fitz & Floyd Classics equestrian bookend depicting a chestnut show jumper and rider beautifully captured mid-jump. Richly glazed in warm chestnut brown, deep navy, red, cream and green, the sculptural horse and rider are set against an architectural bookend form finished with wonderfully detailed foliate borders.

The dimensional modeling is especially good—the horse's expression, braided reins, riding tack, sharply dressed rider and jumping rails give the piece wonderful movement from every angle. Originally designed as part of Fitz & Floyd's Equestrian Collection, it is equally compelling used as a functional bookend or displayed alone as an equestrian objet.

A particularly handsome piece for the library, tack room, study or anywhere that could use a little old-school sporting character.

CONDITION
Spectacular vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs present. A few extremely minor flea bites are present but are nearly undetectable to the naked eye and do not detract from the appearance of the piece.

It is quintessential Martingale East—the deep navy and chestnut palette, wonderfully traditional sporting subject and just enough whimsy to make a bookshelf feel collected rather than decorated.
