Vintage Poole Lancaster Rose Silverplate Serving Dish No. 440

A beautifully detailed vintage silverplate serving dish by Poole Silver Company in the Lancaster Rose pattern. The elongated form is framed by an elaborate raised border of roses, scrolling foliage, and richly modeled ornament, giving the piece the decorative presence of antique repoussé silver while remaining wonderfully usable.
Marked on the underside “Lancaster Rose / EPCA / Silverplate by Poole / 440,” this form was produced as part of Poole’s Lancaster Rose silverplate hollowware collection. The softly sculpted basin and ornate floral edge make it especially pretty for entertaining, while the substantial 14.5-inch length gives it enough scale to stand beautifully on its own.
CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface scratching and light wear consistent with use. The silverplate presents beautifully overall. Please review photographs closely as they form part of the condition description.

STYLING SUGGESTIONS
Use it traditionally for bread, sweets, hors d’oeuvres, or cocktail accompaniments, or style it decoratively on a bar or library table. We especially love it filled with bonbons beside crystal glassware, layered with antique books and a small bud vase, or used as a polished catchall on a dark wood console. The ornate silver against mahogany, leather, tartan, or deep navy feels especially at home in a collected English-country interior.
