A handsome vintage framed reproduction of “Vale of Aylesbury Steeple Chase, Plate I,” after the celebrated British sporting artist F.C. Turner. The energetic scene captures riders and horses moving at speed across the English countryside, giving the piece the unmistakable character of classic 19th-century sporting art. Presented in a substantial warm burl-style frame with a deep charcoal mat and narrow gilt inner border, this is an especially polished example with strong presence on the wall.

CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with prior display. Minor abrasions to frame.

SIZE
Approximately 27"L x 22"H overall.

PROVENANCE
Vintage estate-sourced piece. The original “Vale of Aylesbury Steeple Chase” composition dates to 1836; this example is believed to be a later vintage reproduction rather than an original 19th-century impression.

MAKER
After F.C. Turner; original composition engraved by G. & C. Hunt.

MATERIAL
Printed paper, layered matting, glass, wood/composite burl-style frame and gilt-tone inner trim.

STYLING SUGGESTIONS
A natural fit for an equestrian study, hunt room, library, bar, den or traditional entry. We love it hung beneath an antique brass picture light and paired with leather-bound books, polished wood, brass accents and collected sporting objects for a layered Ralph Lauren-inspired look.
